Summer 2019 Book Study: Better Together

Looking for a bit of encouragement and ways to stay connected this summer?  Join us for our summer 2019 book study as we read Take Up and Read’s newest women’s book study, Better Together.  This 4-week scripture study (we are doing 3 weeks in person!) discusses being in a Christian community:  neighborliness, hospitality, prayer and vulnerability.  You can pre-order the book now at Amazon.com.

Our group will meet on June 11, 25 and July 9 at Cool Beanz Coffee Shop, 29948 Three Notch Rd, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.  Talks are led by Penny Bailey and Laura Roland, with ample opportunity to share your insights and ponderings with the group in small group discussion sessions.

Attending a book study gathering is free; however, you do need to reserve your seat!

Let's Talk About - Apologetics

We’ve all heard the word – apologetics.  And we know we are supposed to understand it and better yet do it.  But how much do we really know about apologetics?

Join the Encounter Grace team and Mrs. Julie Ginther Cilano, George Washington University Campus Minister on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,  28297 Old Village Rd, Mechanicsville, MD 20659, as she sheds some much-needed light on the topic.  Engaging, funny and real, Julie brings her years of experience explaining the faith to young adults to our gathering.

Come prepared with questions you need to be answered!  This is a free event; however, you do need to reserve your seat!

Let's Talk About - Adoration

What is the Catholic spiritual practice of Adoration and why is it so important to our spiritual growth and formation?

The Catechism quotes Pope John Paul II: "The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease." (CCC, 1380)

As the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) reminds us:  Every vocation in the Church comes from and through Christ Jesus. It is he who calls. Spending time in Eucharistic Adoration with our Divine Lord and Friend is a good place to go to ask what he wants with our life. Why not spend some time each week in adoration, in union, in contemplation of the Lord present in the Eucharist?

The Encounter Grace Team will host a Let's Talk About It gathering on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown MD to learn more about Adoration and how we can - and should - incorporate it into our lives.  The presentation, led by Father Rory Conley, will be held in the church.

This is a free event; however, you do need to reserve your seat.

Let's Talk About - Lectio Divina

Roland, who will introduce participants to this beautiful form of prayer and meditation.

Whether you are new to this type of prayer/meditation or have much experience, come and join us!   This is a free event; however, you do need to reserve a seat.
